Day 1: Depart for the United Kingdom

Your adventure begins with an overnight flight across the Atlantic.

Day 2: Welcome to London

Arrive in London, settle into your accommodations, and get acquainted with your neighborhood through a guided orientation walk. Meet your classmates and faculty as you begin your international experience.

Day 3: Discovering London

Explore the city through faculty-led activities and site visits connected to your course. Depending on your area of study, experiences may include museums, historic landmarks, cultural institutions, or walking tours.

​

Day 4: Exploring England's Stories

Engage with the people, places, and events that have shaped England's history, culture, and identity. Course activities may include historic sites, professional visits, literary landmarks, scientific discoveries, or cultural experiences.

​

Day 5: A Day Beyond London

Travel beyond the capital to destinations such as Bath, Greenwich, Lyme Regis, Crystal Palace, or other locations connected to your course. These excursions offer opportunities to explore England's history, culture, and landscapes firsthand.

Day 6: Explore with Intent

Spend the day pursuing course-related interests through independent exploration. Faculty provide guidance and recommendations that help students connect their experiences to broader course themes.

Day 7: Ancient England

Join this optional, full-day excursion (additional fee required) to Stonehenge and the village of Avebury.

 

Day 8: From London to Edinburgh

Board a train for the journey north to Edinburgh, one of the highlights of the program for many students. As the scenery changes from the English countryside to the landscapes of southern Scotland, you'll experience a side of the United Kingdom that most visitors never see. Upon arrival, begin exploring Scotland's historic capital.

Day 9: Edinburgh's Historic Heart

Visit iconic sites such as Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, or Holyroodhouse while learning about Scotland's rich history and cultural traditions.

Day 10: Scotland Through a New Lens

Explore museums, archives, historic neighborhoods, universities, literary landmarks, or cultural institutions connected to your course. These experiences provide new perspectives on Scotland's past and present.

Day 11: Beyond the City

Venture beyond Edinburgh to experience more of Scotland's remarkable landscapes and heritage. Depending on your course, excursions may include the Highlands, Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield, Siccar Point, or other sites of historical, cultural, or scientific significance.

Day 12: Reflection and Wrap-Up

Reflect on your experiences, share insights with classmates, and enjoy one final opportunity to experience the city before returning home.

Day 13: Return Home

Depart Scotland with new perspectives, lasting memories, and a deeper understanding of the people, places, and cultures of England and Scotland.

Activities vary by course and are subject to change. Each England & Scotland itinerary is customized by faculty to support the academic goals of their course while making the destinations an integral part of the learning experience.
