A Glimpse into the 15-Day London Experience

What does life on-site look like? Since every CCSA course features its own custom, faculty-led layout, there is no single schedule for the entire program. Instead, the daily breakdown below serves as a general blueprint to illustrate a typical rhythm. Use this overview to explore how our programs naturally balance formal learning, faculty-guided explorations, and independent time in the city. Subject to change.

Day 1: Depart the United States

  • Overnight flight to London

Day 2: Welcome to London

  • Arrive at London Heathrow Airport

  • Coach transfer to accommodations

  • Neighborhood orientation walk with onsite staff

  • Faculty welcome meeting

 

Day 3: Orientation and Introduction to London

  • Program orientation

  • Guided exploration of Westminster and central London

  • Visit to a major museum, gallery, or cultural institution

 

Day 4: London Through an Academic Lens

  • Faculty-led visit connected to the course theme

  • Examples include the Imperial War Museum, Florence Nightingale Museum, Royal Albert Hall, or literary and film locations

  • Evening discussion or reflection activity

 

Day 5: Specialized Academic Experiences

  • Guided tour, museum visit, archive session, or expert presentation

  • Evening theatre performance or cultural event

 

Day 6: Explore with Intent

  • Independent exploration guided by course assignments and faculty recommendations

  • Optional group activities

 

Day 7: Day Excursion Beyond London

  • Travel by train to destinations such as Oxford, Bath, Brighton, Dover, or Lacock

  • Explore historic sites, castles, museums, or cultural landmarks

  • Return to London in the evening

 

Day 8: Discover London's Neighborhoods

  • Explore areas such as Greenwich, South Bank, Brick Lane, Covent Garden, or Borough Market

  • Course-related activities and local cultural experiences

 

Day 9: Museums and Cultural Institutions

  • Visit nationally significant collections such as the British Museum, National Gallery, Science Museum, or Victoria and Albert Museum

  • Faculty-led discussions and activities

 

Day 10: Academic Field Experience

  • Site visits tailored to the course theme

  • Opportunities may include historical sites, healthcare institutions, music heritage locations, archives, or literary landmarks

 

Day 11: Optional Excursion Day

  • Optional group excursion to sites such as Stonehenge and Avebury

  • Alternative independent exploration opportunities in London

 

Day 12: London's Iconic Landmarks

  • Visit landmarks such as the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, or St. Paul's Cathedral

  • Evening free time

 

Day 13: Cultural Immersion

  • Theatre performance, walking tour, local market visit, or community-focused experience
