CCSA New Student Checklist

Your step-by-step guide to a successful study abroad experience.

Getting Ready to Study Abroad

Passport Prep

Apply or renew your passport early. Processing can take 8–12 weeks (or longer during busy times). Click here for full details on applying for your passport.  Once you receive your passport, make both digital and printed copies to keep on hand.

Talk with Your Family

Share your excitement and details about your program. Explain what the experience means to you and encourage them to support your decision. CCSA also offers helpful resources for families to feel informed and confident.

Meet with Your Academic Advisor

Each home campus has its own process for approving study abroad courses. Schedule a meeting with your advisor early to identify which courses align with your major or degree plan. Be sure to complete any forms required for transfer credit pre-approval.
